E/R: Abuakwa North Fulfils President's Directive Of Post COVID 19 Thanksgiving


The Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region of Ghana has completed a three (3) day post-covid thanksgiving service as directed by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo in his 29th address to the nation on the pandemic.

The thanksgiving tour started from Akyem Kukuratumi Central Mosque on Friday 2nd June, 2023, Saturday, 3rd June, 2023 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, Akyem Osiem Central, and ended at Akyem New Tafo Bethel Congregation of the Presbyterian Church on Sunday 4th June, 2023.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, the Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration before winning 2016 general elections said "The battle is the Lord's" and called on all religious bodies to rally behind him through intercessory prayers.

The Government was then hit with COVID 19 in the year 2020 and subsequently with Russia and Ukraine war which had devastating results on the country's economy.

During the pandemic era, the Government declared a week of fasting and prayers for the which has contributed to this success.



Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga added that, in the president's address, Ghana has been declared COVID 19 free by WHO and has directed all MMDAs to embark on the thanksgiving tour to appreciate the prayers of all worshipers and the Supreme Being for the success and said, the economy will bounce back for socio-economic development of the country.



Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, Member of Parliament of Abuakwa North and Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) at her part added that, as the country anticipate economic growth and development, it befalls on all us to be patriotic and emphasized that, the Government has done it's part to stabilize the economy hence traders and other service providers should also comply with the trend to avoid unwarranted inflation in the country.



"As Christians, we must do unto others as we want others to do onto us, as the Nana Akufo-Addo led Government through your prayers has successfully survived this pandemic, we anticipate smooth economic transformation with you as an engine. Drivers refused to reduce their fares after the Government's directive as fuel prices came down. If we should do this, we continue to languish and blame Government for no wrong doing. Let's all be patriotic and be our brother's keepers". Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo mentioned.



Mr John Ankrah, Municipal Coordinating Director, Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim Abuakwa North NPP Constituency Chairman, other Constituency and Polling Station Executives joined the team.
