E/R: Abuakwa North MCE Cuts Sod For Nine School Projects



The Municipal Chief Executive for Abuakwa North in the Eastern Region of Ghana, Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga has today 10th November, 2022, cut sod, handed over project sites and drawings to various contractors for work to beging in some nine (9) selected schools in the Municipality.

The projects include, 6 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Kukurantumi R/C Primary, 6 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Ofori Panin Primary, 6 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Anyinasin Presby Primary, 6 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Anyinasin Methodist Primary, 3 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Anyinasin Presby JHS, 3 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Mid Tafo Presby JHS, 3 unit classroom block with 6 Seater toilet for Ati SDA JHS, 2 unit kindergarten block for Kukurantumi Methodist Primary, 2 unit kindergarten block for Aboabo M/A Primary all fitted with ancillary facilities.

Speaking to Nana Kwasi Asare at the sideline of the events, Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga said, the projects are being funded by Ghana Education Trust Fund (GetFund) under emergency school Infrastructural projects and thanked the Member of Parliament of the enclave, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for her lobbying skills that has seen the light of the day and the President H.E Nana Akufo-Addo for his commitment in ensuring quality Education in the country of which Abuakwa North is no exception.



He said, the contractors have six (6) months, two (2) weeks to complete and handover the projects for onwards commissioning and use by the schools.

Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga further, admonished the contractors to employ local contents to add up to their already existing permanent staff and do quality work.

He also cautioned the people in the various community to be vigilant and report any thievery of building materials to his high office for onward action.

"When I was made the MCE for this Municipality by the President, I toured all Government institutions including Basic and Senior High School. I observed the Infrastructural and furniture deficits in most of the schools.
For that of the furniture, it has been addressed.
But with the infrastructure, I teamed up with my Member of Parliament, Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo, an expedited the lobbying process to secure funding from GetFund for these nine (9) school projects.
The contractors have six (6) months, two (2) weeks within which they have to complete and hand over the projects for the use of the schools.
I will use this opportunity to commend the president of the Republic, H.E Nana Akufo-Addo and his New Patriotic Party's (NPP) administration for the immense contributions to the development of the Educational sector of which Abuakwa North has benefited from.
I entreat all to report any act of thievery of the materials meant for these projects to me or the nearest police station to ensure quality work from our contractors". Stated Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga.

Mrs Gloria Aggrey Kilson, Ag. Municipal Education Director, who was part of the delegation, thanked the Government for the projects and said it's overwhelming.

She assured that, the projects will be put in good use when completed and handed over to the Directorate.

She further said, apart from these nine (9) schools, there are others which are struggling with infrastructure and asked the Government to help with more.

Alhaji Seidu Ibrahim, Chairman of Abuakwa North Constituency NPP, other Constituency Executives and party faithfuls, some selected staff from the Assembly, the Education Directorate and the Press, joined the delegation for the occasion.
