E/R: Abuakwa North NADMO Director Sensitizes Public On Safety Precautions During Harmattan

Mr Stephen Osei-Wusu, Municipal Director of National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) for Abuakwa North, has today Friday 13th January, 2023, cautioned the public to be extra careful as the country experiences this year's harmattan season.

Speaking to Nana Kwasi Asare on Nopras 107.5 Fm "Adekye Mu Nsem" program, the Municipal NADMO Director enumerated some dangers associated with the dry season.

He mentioned fire outbreaks and vehicular accidents emanating from poor visibility as some of the contributing factors to be considered.

Mr Stephen Osei-Wusu explained that, bush fires have reduced as compared to previous years but that of domestic keep rocketing.

The Municipal NADMO Director, sensitized the public on safer way to use Liquifide Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the kitchen and said, LPG cylinders and tubes must be checked and maintained regularly and added that, immediately LPG cylinders are seen rusting, they must be changed to avoid gas leakage which can cause fire outbreak.

He further advised all to avoid using coal pots in the kitchen where LPG stoves are kept since the naked fire from the coal pot can spark fire.

Mr Stephen Osei-Wusu admonished that, old electric cables used in wiring houses should be replaced to avoid fire outbreaks since the cables get weaker with time.

He also advised that, over loading of electrical sockets must be avoided and electrical gadgets should be unplugged when not in use.

Taking a swipe on vehicular accidents, he said, drivers should be extra careful and considerate when on the street due to poor visibility associated with the harmattan season and advised pedestrians to wear reflective attires to improve visibility for the drivers especially in the night and at dawn to avoid being knocked down.
