E/R: Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo Secures Two GALOP Projects, Hand Over Site To Contractor

To improve the standards of basic education in the Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region of Ghana, Hon Gifty Twum-Ampofo popularly called Hajia Kande, Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Education incharge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), has handed over project sites for the construction of two separate six(6) class unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Akyem Old Tafo Presby and Akyem New Tafo Methodist Primary Schools on the 5th of January, 2024.

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo explained that, the projects are being funded from the World Bank under The Ghana Accountability for Learning Outcomes Project (GALOP).

According to the Member of Parliament GALOP is a project with the objective to improve the quality of education in low-performing basic education schools and strengthen education sector equity and accountability in Ghana.

Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo posited that, the project when completed will motivate the teachers and pupils to improve their academic scores.

She further urged the contractor to complete the project within the scheduled time.

Honourable Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive of Abuakwa North on his part, admonished the contractor to factor in local content in terms of employment, to ensure that the youth in the communities benefit.

He further assured the contractor of the Assembly's commitment in providing technical support and security to ensure speedy completion of the projects.

Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, Akyem Tafohene, expressed his gratitude to the Nana Akufo-Addo led government for coming to the rescue of the school through the lobbying skills of Honourable Gifty Twum-Ampofo.

Daasebre Adusei Peasah recounted that, the Akyem Old Tafo Presby Primary school, can boast of Osagyefo Kuntunkunuku II, the late Okyenhene as a product and added that, the facelift can produce more prominent people in the near future.

He pledged his unwavering support to the project and said his doors are always opened for the contractor as the project kickstarts.

Also at the short ceremony were, Mr Emil Tawiah Atsu, Municipal Coordinating Director and some staff from the Assembly, Madam Abena Gyamerah, Municipal Education Director and selected staff, Mr Stephen Osei-Wusu, Abuakwa North Municipal NADMO Director, Nana Ofosu Asante Twum E/R Free SHS Coordinator, the Clergy, general public and the press.
