E/R: Kasana Nankana Chief Calls For Peace In Bawku

"Bayana Mohammed, the Eastern Regional Kasana Nankana Chief, has called on factions in the Bawku Chieftaincy dispute to give peace a chance to restore normal times for socio-economic development.

He said they committed the government to restoring peace in Bawku and its environs through various arrangements, but this can’t be done when the citizens of Bawku are not ready to accept things and live in peace". Bayana Mohammed stated.

"I want to state and state emphatically that we outside Bawku are not happy about what is going on. We have Akans, Ga and other tribes in Bawku. We are living in peace here, so why can't they also live in peace there". He quizzed.

"I say that we are not happy, I want to tell my fellow Northerners that we need peace, we cannot make our children inherit a worse Bawku than our parents made us inherit, so l'm pleading we give peace a chance in Bawku as we are enjoying in Eastern Region and other part of the country.

Since the re-emergence of the conflict in 2021, several lives and property have been destroyed, economic and social activities had come to a standstill, no business person will like to invest there because there is no peace on the land". Bayana Mohammed continued.

Nana Bayana Mohammed said this when he was speaking to newly enskinned Chiefs and Queen at Koforidua in the Eastern Region, so they will also advocate for peace.

The two sub-chiefs and one queen who were enskinned were Mr. Alex Jawani as Bodonpe (Youth chief), Mr. Adorkor Akanyi as Tigatu (krontihene) and Mrs. Vida Adum Awompwamoni as Kape (youth queen).

Nana once again thanked the chiefs in the Region, especially Daasebre Kwaku Boateng III, the Omanhene of New Juaben Traditional Area, for giving them a place in Koforidua and recognizing them as one people.

In an interview with Mrs. Vida Adum Awompwamoni, she said they are ready to work hard for the development of New Juaben and Kasana Nankana citizens.

"Division among us will not bring any meaningful development, be it in our current place of living or in the northern part of Ghana. We should come together and developed this country because we are all one person". She said.
