LEARNING MADE INTERESTING; NO MORE CHEW, POUR, PASS AND FORGET

Seeing coupled with handling retains indelible in memory, facts of what was seen and handled.
That system In education, supports teaching and learning much better than thousand times hearing since what is heared could be forgotten within few days.

Today, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), 'Agudi Ma Osuahunu' (AMO), has initiated a program to put away the former lecture or oratory method of teaching and learning which is now described, archaic.
The archaic method makes teaching burdensome and learning, difficult for many children with low retentive memory.

Schooling becomes disturbing to such children since they are forced to learn by heart.
The 'by heart' learning termed Chew, is for the children to memorize what they are taught.
Children could recall (Pour) facts from that which was Chewed.

Once that was Chewed is Poured out, nothing remains in the memory of the children.
Everything is forgotten. (Forget).
The complete teaching and learning process was termed, Chew, Pour and Forget.

Children who had difficulty with Chew, Pour, Pass and Forget, took to the streets, absenteeism, truancy, teenage pregnancy, drug addicts, school drop outs and other social vices.

With the introduction of AMO's teaching and learning skill, children are introduced to play equipments.

They answer questions and solve problems by the use of play materials.

Speaking about the modern skill, board members of AMO, Reverend doctor Kofi Amfo-Akonnor and Mrs Theodosia W. Jackson, chairperson of the board said by the new method, regular school attendance is recorded and the use of the cane which in time past, sent many children away from school is put away.

Deputy director general for Ghana education service (GES). Stephen Kwaku Owusu, applauded AMO and stated that GES would give the necessary support to enable AMO do more in support of their mandate.
He said this new teaching and learning skill boost confidence in children and makes them appreciate communal living.
