WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, NGO INTENSIFY COMMUNITY ADVOCACY ON UNPAID CARE WORK


Plan International Ghana through its Women’s Innovation for Sustainable Enterprise (WISE) Project has intensify community dialogue on unpaid care work in 16 communities in Sunyani Municipality in the Bono region.

The WISE project is a Women's Economic Empowerment project which seeks to promote innovative, integrated and gender transformative business services by improving women’s agency to exercise decisions regarding their participation in economic growth as well as increasing productivity, profitability, and innovation of women-owned businesses.

Addressing separate community advocacy sessions on unpaid care work, the Founder and CEO of Global Media Foundation, Raphael Godlove Ahenu, revealed about around the world, 42% of women can’t secure jobs because they’re responsible for caregiving whilst 89% of households, women and girls perform the majority of household chores.

Thus, called upon men to learn and actively assist their wives with tasks such as washing, cooking, and cleaning the house.
