Cecilia Dapaah's Case: Five Remanded; Two Granted Ghc2m Bail

Five of the defendants in the case involving Cecilia Dapaah were ordered to remain in custody by the Accra Circuit Court; however, the court released two nursing mothers on bail in the amount of GH1,000,000 with three sureties.

An Accra Circuit Court is currently prosecuting two housekeepers who are suspected of stealing money and other valuables worth millions of Ghana Cedis from the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour. The theft case is estimated to be worth millions of Ghana Cedis.

The money that had allegedly been taken was found in the residence of the couple in the Accra suburb of Abelemkpe, which is located in the Greater Accra Region.

In the case of Cecilia Dapaah, five defendants were remanded while two were granted GH$2 million bail each.
Patience Botwe, 18, and Sarah Agyei, 30, are accused of stealing the couple's money and personal things between July and October of 2022. The alleged theft took place within those months.

Patience, the first defendant (A1), had both her current and former boyfriends, in addition to her father, brought before the same court.

Madam Dapaah ultimately decided to step down from her position in the government in response to the widespread outrage and calls for her to do so, as she was accused of illegally obtaining and keeping the funds in her possession.
