Doctor warns of mistake men make in the shower that can cause infection

Even if taking a shower is probably something you do on autopilot, you should know that there is more to the practise than just using water, skincare products, and scrubs.

It's possible that you don't give the usual practise a lot of thought, but there are some crucial aspects that you shouldn't overlook.

An NHS general practitioner has issued a warning to men that they may be making a basic error when they shower, which may result in bacterial or fungal illnesses.

TikTok is being utilised by Doctor Sooj to spread awareness about the significance of properly cleansing one's penis.

The physician referred to his cautionary statement as a "public service announcement" before explaining the significance of paying attention to this area of your body while you are washing it in the shower.

The physician explained that his recommendation is founded on the "numerous cases" he has observed over the course of the most recent few months, even though his warning was directed mostly towards individuals who had not had circumcision.

Dr. Sooj advised, "If you are not circumcised, then please make it a point to pull your foreskin all the way back and clean around the base of the glans penis every single time you take a shower or bath." The bottom of the helmet looks like this.

"If you don't do this, then it can lead to a build-up of smegma, which is a thick discharge that looks like cheese and builds up around the genitals," the author writes. "This can lead to a build-up of smegma."

Because the foreskin is capable of capturing oils, skin cells, and other fluids, it provides an environment that is conducive to the accumulation of smegma.

According to Dr. Sooj, this can subsequently lead to things such as "bacterial and fungal skin infections." This is a very concerning possibility.

He explained that in order to avoid these potential health issues, all one needs to do is adhere to a straightforward piece of hygiene advice.

He instructed: "All you have to do is gently pull your foreskin back when you're in the shower or bathing, and clean your genitals with warm water." He said this while referring to the process of taking a shower or a bath.

The Cleveland Clinic also suggests using a clean washcloth or your hands in order to cleanse the skin that is located underneath your foreskin with a combination of soap and water.

According to the health website, "the skin in these areas is sensitive, so it's a good idea to use a mild soap that is free of any perfumes, dyes, or alcohol."
