Ebo Quansah Warns of Government's Unresponsiveness, Drawing Parallels to Rawlings' Coup Justification

Ebo Quansah, a seasoned journalist and General Manager of The Chronicle newspaper, has issued a stern caution to President Akufo-Addo. Quansah contends that some government officials are growing complacent and unresponsive to the needs of the people, sparking reminiscences of a tumultuous past.

Reflecting on a recent scandal involving former Minister Cecilia Dapaah, Quansah highlighted the significance of the story. He asserted, "It is crucial to bring this to the President's attention and the public eye, signaling that not all is well within his ministerial team."

The journalist evoked historical parallels, recalling how former President Jerry Rawlings justified a coup by citing a lack of government responsiveness. Quansah warned, "If we don't take care, things might go astray as well."

The recent theft of millions from Cecilia Dapaah's residence prompted Quansah's scrutiny. He questioned the wisdom of storing substantial amounts of money in a personal residence, stating, "Was her home a bank?"

Quansah also criticized the President's response to Dapaah's resignation, deeming it overly effusive given the circumstances. He advised a more tempered acknowledgment.

Expressing concern over ministerial accountability, Quansah emphasized that lengthy tenures can lead to complacency. He observed, "When people remain in one position for too long, they become too comfortable and may neglect the rules and regulations."
