MTN Ghana presents over 50 hampers to mothers and babies born on Christmas day

Story by: Nana Peprah

The MTN foundation, on Tuesday December 26, 2023, donated hampers to mothers who have given birth during the Christmas period.

The exercise which started in the year 2011, has since become a known annual gesture of the telecommunications network giants.

The MTN, through its foundation, does this on every Boxing Day, across the various hospitals within the Ashanti region.

Mothers who give birth on the 24th, 25th, and the 26th December, every year, are those who usually qualify for the package.

As it was witnessed in the Ashanti region, the same exercise took place across all the sixteen (16) regions, across Ghana simultaneously.

The hampers distributed contained baby clothing, detergents, baby oil and powder, hand sanitizers, and many other items.

In Kumasi this year, some of the hospitals that benefitted the gesture included Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and Kwadaso SDA hospital where most of the hampers were distributed to the Christmas born babies and their mothers.

While about 30 hampers were distributed at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital(KATH), MTN also distributed over 20 hampers at Kwadaso SDA hospital.

Speaking to the media after the donation, Mrs. Charity Darko who is the Corporate Affairs Head at the MTN Northern Business District, said, they were happy to share in the joy of mothers bringing new life into the world on Christmas Day.

“It’s Christmas and as you all know, it is a season of love and giving, and MTN uses this opportunity to reach out to mothers who have babies on Christmas Days by giving these gifts to them” she said.

Mrs Charity Darko who further pledged more goodies for customers in the coming year, also stood on behalf of the management and staff of the MTN Ghana to wish all their cherished customers and stakeholders a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year ahead.

On her part, Mrs. Gifty Fokuo, midwife specialist at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, on behalf of the facility and the beneficiaries, expressed a profound gratitude to the MTN Ghana.

”We really appreciate MTN Ghana for what they have done and we pray that the good Lord will make them great to enjoy more successes in the years to come,” she said.
