MTN, journalists shake Kumasi with a massive health walk

The telecommunications network giant MTN, as part of efforts to promote health and wellness through exercising, has engaged media personnel in the Ashanti Region on health walk on Saturday, December 23, 2023.

The walk, which was scheduled to start from the premises of the network giant's regional office at Nhyiaeso, saw most of the participants arrived at the venue by 5:00am.

The event, which also aimed at fostering unity and strong relations between MTN and the journalists and beyond, was initiated by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Kingsley Hope.

At around 5:45 am, the walk started from the regional head office of MTN through to Ahodwo Roundabout, Asokwa Interchange, the Kumasi City Mall etc. All the moves were accompanied by brass band music to spice up the event.

The walk also went through the Asafo Roundabout, Labour Roundabout, the Asafo Interchange, through to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, through to the Ridge Police station before ending back at the starting point at Nhyiaeso.



Back at the head office, participants were taken through an aerobic session and a host of other workouts by Warrant Officer (WO) Austin Power of the Physical Training Department of the Central Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, Kumasi to burn some excess fat from their bodies.



During his remarks, he advised the participants to reduce or totally avoid taking breakfast that contain more oil to avoid cholesterols in their systems, adding that with good diets and exercises, medicine will be of no need.


He also encouraged them to at least exercise 5 minutes daily before leaving home for work.



On his part, the GJA Chairman and regional editor for the Ghanaian Times News Paper, Kingsley Hope, thanked his colleague media practitioners for gracing the event.

He also extended his gratitude to the MTN for sponsoring the event and appealed to them to make it a regular event to help practitioners and reduce stress.

Lastly, the Northern Business Acting Commercial Manager of MTN, Mr. Simon Amoh, noted that some of the medical bills paid at the hospitals would not have been paid if Ghanaians made exercises a regular schedule.
He commended the media for attending to make the event a success.

He also thanked them for the numerous support they have been given to MTN throughout the years.

In the last session was a penalty kick competition between the various media fraternities including the Print, TV, Radio, Online. At the end, journalists from Print Media were crowned winners.
