Otumfour investigative chief fingers some chiefs over double sales of land, usage of macho-men

The executive director for corruption combat international and investigative chief for Manhyia, Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem Okogyeabour, has expressed disappointment in some chiefs for defying Otumfour's orders by doing double sales of land and using heavily built men (macho-men) to intimidate innocent people.

He said it was very unfortunate that most of these chiefs who are supposed to protect people, rather engage in these evil agendas for their selfish gains.

Mentioning chief of Nyantaase as a typical example, the fearless investigator disclosed that it was high time those chiefs were called to order.

According to him, the Nyantaase chief who skipped his boundary, pounced on an innocent developer with macho-men to beat up and destroy his properties and an ongoing project. He said, the land which was sold to the developer by the Ampabame chief, was forcibly seized by the Nyantaase chief who went there with macho-men.

"He forced the developer to pay extra Gh¢95,000 despite buying it from the Ampabame chief at an amount of Gh¢110,000. Meanwhile, the allocation documents in my possession reveals that the land belongs to the Ampabame chief, traditionally and legally". He said.

He further accused the Ejisu Manhene, Nana Afrane Okesse for spearheading an act that caused confusion between his two sub-chiefs.

"The Ejisu Manhene Nana Afrane Okesse who is the Overlord of the two chiefs just looked on for such confusion to occur without uttering a word.

"My investigations have revealed that the Ejisu Manhene who was supposed to calm down the situation rather looked on for these unfortunate incidents to occur. He told them to go and settle the issue by themselves, instead of looking straight into the face of the Nyantaase chief and tell the truth".

Further calling for Otumfour's intervention and punishment of culprits, the investigator disclosed that the Asante traditions bar chiefs from using macho-men to settle their issues.

His outburst comes following an alleged attack on one developer, Yaw Gyamfi and his sister whilst they were at site working on their building project.

According to Mr Gyamfi, he had paid for the land having received credible documents from the Ampabame chief when the Nyantaase chief also came in with macho-men, claiming to be the owner of the land.

"They destroyed our cements and building items worth millions. They've forced us to pay extra amount but we're still not at peace. These macho-men keep coming at us. We need help because we're really at risk". He told this reporter.

To Nana Kwadwo Amoah Ampem, there was the need to call all persons found culpable on the matter to order since it was prohibited for chiefs to use macho-men to settle land disputes and that anyone who does that needed to be punished.
