Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, a former minister of youth and sports in Ghana, has reportedly dead

Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, a former minister of youth and sports in Ghana, has reportedly gone away.

Late on Wednesday, February 7, the retired major passed away.

From 2001 to 2016, Dr. Ahmed represented the Ayawaso North Constituency as a Member of Parliament (MP)

In March 2015, then-President John Dramani Mahama named him as the Minister of Youth and Sports, replacing Bawku Central MP Mahama Ayariga.

But in a subsequent cabinet shift, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye took his place.

Dr. Ahmed gained notoriety last year when he was found guilty of contempt of court and given a seven-day prison sentence.

Judge Afia Serwaa Asare-Botwe found him guilty of trespassing on territory he was charged to avoid, and he was fined GH¢12.000.

A further thirty days in jail would have been imposed for nonpayment of the fine.

Dr. Mustapha Ahmed's commitment to public service, together with his contributions to the growth of sports and youth empowerment in Ghana, will live on in his memory.

The numerous lives he impacted during his lifetime will carry on his legacy.
