Actress addresses African parents who emotionally blackmail their children

Nollywood star, Etinosa Idemudia, recently took a friendly stand against the practice of emotional blackmail by African parents towards their children.

In a tweet on May 11, the actress, who is also a mother, expressed her disapproval of parents who manipulate their children's emotions in order to gain control and have their wishes fulfilled.

Etinosa highlighted the tendency of African parents to make their children feel guilty whenever they make choices that go against their parents' desires. These parents often remind their children of the sacrifices they made to provide for them, as a way to exert influence.

Questioning the parents who engage in such behavior, the talented actress asked whether their children requested to be born in the first place, emphasizing the absurdity of using sacrifices as a means of emotional control.

In her tweet, she stated:

“African parents need to stop the emotional blackmail tbh.

I raised you, I sacrificed for you. I don’t understand, who brought me here in the first place? Who put me in the position to need sacrifice. Kanayo Kanayo?”
