Jealous boyfriend who shot girlfriend identified as Manhyia police dispatch rider

Recent reports reveal that the suspect in the murder of Victoria Dapaa, also known as Maa Adwoa, is a police dispatch rider stationed at the Manhyia Palace. The brutal killing occurred on Friday when a young woman in her mid-20s from Kumasi was shot dead by her boyfriend in a love-turned-sour situation. The unidentified man is accused of firing several shots at the woman in Adum, Kumasi, on Thursday night. Consequently, the Kumasi police have launched a massive manhunt for him.

Graphic Online reports that after the attack, the perpetrator fled the scene on a Pragya, a small, two-wheeled passenger vehicle. The incident took place on Thursday, April 20, 2023, around 10 p.m., near Dufie Towers, behind Aseda House. According to reports, the victim was a single mother and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Maa Adwoa's aunt, Adwoa Nyarko, stated that the family would feel some relief if the perpetrator was apprehended and brought to justice, given that they were unable to save the victim. According to her, Maa Adwoa had just finished her bath and was getting ready for bed when she received a call and decided to leave, despite her brother and another aunt's attempts to dissuade her. Unfortunately, they later heard gunshots and found her lying in a pool of blood.

Ms Nyarko added that the family was unaware of the victim's relationship with the football player at the time. The suspect reportedly ignored the victim's pleas and fired his gun multiple times after what appeared to be an altercation before escaping in a rickshaw. The incident is currently under investigation, and the police are working tirelessly to bring the perpetrator to justice.
