Kenyan arrested at KIA for possessing over $300k worth of cocaine

The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) recently apprehended a Kenyan national at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) for allegedly smuggling 11.04 kilogrammes of cocaine.

The drugs were estimated to be worth $309,120, and were found in packages of Cremora food during a search of her luggage.

The suspect was arrested on Saturday, April 15, 2023, and has confirmed possession of the illegal substance. The exhibits have been sent to the Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) for analysis, while the suspect remains in custody for further investigation and prosecution.

NACOC wants to emphasize that the possession and transportation of illicit drugs is illegal and punishable under the Narcotics Control Commission Act 2020. They assure the public that they are committed to reducing the drug trafficking threat to the country.
