Legon Student Charged with Murder of Canadian Boyfriend



Nafisatu Mohammed, a level 200 Biological Science student at the University of Ghana (Legon), has been charged with the murder of her Ghanaian boyfriend, Frank Kofi Osei, who was based in Canada. The Adentan District Court 1, presided over by Her Worship Nancy Adade, has decided to send Nafisatu to the Accra High Court for her murder trial, which is set to commence on September 18, 2023.

The prosecution attorney, Nana Amma Adinkrah, along with her team, presented all the necessary evidence and exhibits during the committal charges, paving the way for the trial to begin. Bismark Sakyi, a nephew of the deceased, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the trial process.

Allegedly assisted by a technical officer named Michael Fiifi Ampofo, Nafisatu, aged 23, is accused of committing the crime on July 25, 2023, at Ashaley Botwe School Junction. The tragic incident reportedly occurred when the deceased, who was in the country for vacation, decided to spend the night at Nafisatu's residence.

According to the Prosecutor, the deceased was left in the room for an entire day. Furthermore, it's alleged that the Accused dragged the deceased from the first floor of a two-story building to the ground floor and left his body by the gate. The following day, the suspect informed a police officer that her boyfriend had died in her room during his visit. However, when the police arrived at the scene, they discovered the deceased's body by the gate, and Nafisatu was nowhere to be found.

In conclusion, Nafisatu Mohammed, a University of Ghana student, faces charges for the murder of her Canadian-based Ghanaian boyfriend. The trial process is underway, with the Accra High Court scheduled to commence the murder trial on September 18, 2023. The case has drawn attention due to the alleged involvement of a technical officer and the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
