Polygamy is not biblical but a choice – Counselor Charlotte Oduro

Controversial Ghanaian Marriage Counselor, Reverend Dr. Mrs. Charlotte Oduro, firmly asserts that polygamy lacks biblical support and shouldn't be rationalized by pointing to figures in the Bible who had multiple wives.

According to her, polygamy is a personal decision and shouldn't be introduced into the Church, citing the example of Adam and Eve's union as a model of monogamy. Speaking on UTV, she emphasized, "Polygamy is not biblical. Please, it is a choice, so don't bring it to the Church." She also referred to portions of Dag Heward Mills' preaching where he discussed the problems and consequences associated with polygamy.

Reverend Charlotte Oduro's stance comes in response to recent comments made by Dag Heward Mills regarding polygamy. Heward Mills argued that nature itself supports polygamy, citing examples from the animal kingdom and referencing 1 Corinthians 11:14. He pointed out the prevalence of multiple partners in the animal world and questioned why humans should be any different. He also remarked on the historical inconsistency of Christian figures preaching against polygamy despite some of them having multiple wives.

Heward Mills also touched upon the topic of divorce, suggesting that the Bible doesn't entirely condemn it. He referred to specific verses from the book of Ezra and the Gospel of Luke to support his view on divorce. His sermon sparked a diverse range of reactions, with some agreeing and others disagreeing with his perspective.

In conclusion, the views of Reverend Dr. Mrs. Charlotte Oduro and Dag Heward Mills represent a contrasting perspective on the biblical stance regarding polygamy. While Oduro firmly believes that polygamy is not supported by the Bible and should not be brought into the Church, Heward Mills presents a perspective that nature itself seems to endorse multiple partnerships. The ongoing discussions within the religious community reflect the complex and nuanced nature of interpreting scripture and applying its teachings to modern situations.
