Suspected Phone Thief Allegedly Lynched by Angry Mob in Kumasi

An individual suspected of stealing a mobile phone has reportedly met a tragic end at Ash Town in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. The incident involved an enraged mob, resulting in the alleged death of the suspected thief.

Based on a police statement, Anthony Adansi from Asawase lodged a report with the Manhyia Police, claiming a familial connection to the deceased, identified as Boadi. Adansi recounted that Boadi had faced the threat of mob violence due to accusations of phone theft in Ash Town. However, he was spared from harm by the intervention of two individuals.

Describing the events, Adansi revealed that these Good Samaritans rescued Boadi, transporting him via tricycle to Asawase. Upon their arrival, it became evident that Boadi's condition was dire, prompting an urgent transfer to the Manhyia District Hospital. Tragically, Boadi's life couldn't be saved, and he passed away not long after reaching the hospital.

Subsequently, both the complainant and law enforcement visited the medical facility, discovering Isaac Boadi, an adult male, lying on a stretcher with a plaster adorning his left eyebrow.

In light of this distressing incident, authorities have transferred the deceased's body to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for a post-mortem examination. Meanwhile, the police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for the suspected lynching.

In conclusion, this unfortunate event underscores the dangers of mob justice and the urgent need for a fair and just legal process. The loss of life in such circumstances is deeply regrettable, and it highlights the importance of upholding the principles of justice and due process in all situations.
