The Secret Behind One MP's Mysterious Silence in Parliament

There is mounting pressure on certain Members of Parliament (MPs) who have not yet spoken on the House floor, with constituents eager to hear their contributions to public debates.

Unfortunately, some MPs in both the Majority and Minority Caucuses have not had the opportunity to speak due to their seating arrangements. New MPs are often seated at the back of the chamber, which makes it difficult for them to catch the Speaker's attention.

Kofi Arko Nokoe, the National Democratic Congress MP for Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira, is the latest to face this predicament. His situation is even more challenging because he succeeded a former outspoken New Patriotic Party MP, Catherine Ablema Afeku. Hon. Nokoe's constituents have evaluated his contributions to Parliament over the past three years, and he has decided to address the issue.

In a viral social media video, the MP explained that his sitting position is obstructed by a pillar, making it difficult for him to catch the Speaker's eye.

This has prevented him from participating in debates and addressing his constituents' concerns effectively. Despite this setback, Hon. Nokoe remains committed to serving his constituents and making his voice heard in Parliament.
