Dompim Concerned Youth expressed disappointment about the conduct of EC officials at Bepoakyir voting polling Centre

The Concerned Youths of Dompim in the Tarkwa Nsuaem have expressed their disappointment in the turn of events during the recent Assembly elections at Bepoakyi in the Dompim Electoral Area.

The group in a press release on Wednesday, Dec 20, 2023, alleged that the “Electoral Commission officers at the Bepoakyi polling station have been captured in videos and pictures directing voters within the ballot box to favor specific candidates”.

The statement said “This electoral malpractice at the polling station has raised serious questions about the integrity of the democratic process and hence the need to conduct serious investigations into the matter and nullify the fraudulent electoral process at the Bepoakyi Polling Station’’.

Videos and images circulated on social media depict Electoral Commission officers guiding voters to cast their ballots in favor of a particular candidate, sparking outrage among the electorate.

According to the group, ‘The gross misconduct at the said polling station cannot be overlooked, actions must be taken to ensure results from such a fraudulent process are canceled’’.
‘’The misconduct by the officials has fueled this protest from the concerned people of the Dompim Electoral Area, reflecting our frustration and demand for transparency’’, it added.

The statement concluded that ‘’The Electoral Commission must be committed to delivering unbiased and fair results because the integrity of the electoral process is paramount to the functioning of a democratic society, and any allegations of malpractice require thorough investigation and resolution hence we count on the Electoral Commission to do the needful as soon as possible’’.
