A sod-cutting ceremony has been performed for the commencement of an ultra-modern Social Event Centre at Bogoso in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality.

The project, funded by the Bogoso Prestea Development Foundation of the Future Global Resources (FGR) is made possible by the Chief of Bogoso Nana Kwasi Somprey, elders, and community leaders who decided to use the community’s share the Bogoso Prestea Development Foundation of the Future Global Resources (FGR) for this project.

Speaking during the sod-cutting ceremony, the General Manager of FGR, Mr. Ken Allen commended Nana Kwasi Somprey II and his dynamic supporting sub-chiefs for providing the much-needed support that has made it possible for the beginning of the construction of a social event edifice for Bogoso.

“Nana did not just give out the land for this project for free, but he ensured that no encroachment or disturbance to the land emerged. It is my firm belief that this onerous gesture by Osabirima and his sub-chiefs is an example worth emulating”, he said.

Mr Allen stated that “this project is coming at a good time for the people of Bogoso community more especially as we witness the fast pace at which Bogoso township is developing physically and demographically. This observed trend of rapid development has and continues to make it very important for Bogoso to get a befitting spacious social event center to enable the chiefs and their subjects to have the capacity to be able to host sociocultural and even political programs of local and national character”

So far, the project committee chaired by Odeffour Karteng has molded 9,000 pieces of concrete blocks, a borehole has been drilled to ensure a constant supply of water, aggregate chippings, and sand for the foundation works has been mobilized and earthwork engineering that resulted in the evacuation of the unauthorized refuse from this site has also been accomplished.

The Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Chief Executive, Dr Isaac Dasmani commended FGR and Nananom for the collaborative effort in ensuring the development of the Bogoso township.

He explained that this project will bring new life into the Bogoso township and urged the contractor to execute quality jobs.

The Chief of Bogoso, Nana Kwasi Somprey II who was full of happiness thanked FGR for the sponsorship to construct the magnificent edifice.

He called on opinion leaders and community folks to contribute in diverse ways to see the successful completion of the project for the benefit of all.
