WR Bishops Induct 1st Prelate

The newly inaugurated College of Bishops and Apostles in the Western Region has inducted into office, Bishop Emmanuel Kweku Botwey, the Presiding Bishop of Christian Faith Church International (CFCI) as the first Prelate of the College.

Bishop Botwey's elevation as the first Prelate of the College followed his nomination by the Bishops and Apostles in the region. His mandate as the Prelate is for five years.

The colourful ceremony, which took place at the auditorium of Prophet Botwe Cathedral of CFCI in Takoradi, saw renowned men of God in the Western Region, including the Rt. Rev Alexander Kobina Asmah Bishop of the Sekondi-Takoradi Diocese of the Anglican Church who performed the induction, in attendance.

Rt Rev Asmah indicated that the new Prelate now has lots of episcopal responsibilities and appealed to the church in the region to support him with their prayers.

The new Prelate, Presiding Bishop Botwey who has been given the title, "Most Reverend" gladly accepted the office of the Prelate with humility and resolved to serve with faithfulness and meekness in his new office.

He said the inauguration has come at the most opportune time and felt greatly honoured to be the first to be inducted as the first Prelate to preside over the college.

"I am humbled to he entrusted with such a high office in humility without priding myself with the position. I salute the Bishops and the Apostles for the confidence reposed in me", he stressed.

He continued "Considering the enormity of the task ahead I sincerely call for your prayers and support so together we can sanitize the Episcopal and Apostolic state in the Western Region.

In separate interviews, some members of CFCI where the Prelate is the Presiding Bishop indicated that the church currently required strong leadership in the effort to sustain its growth.

"We believe that our Presiding Bishop and the new Prelate will use his position effectively to help bring the needed growth in the body of Christ in the region", they pointed out.
