Super Eagles players wearing kaftans leave for AFCON.

Nigeria's Super Eagles have left the nation to play in the upcoming African Cup Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The squad left for Abidjan on Wednesday at around ten in the morning from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, in advance of the competition, which was scheduled to start on Saturday.

The national team's officials and players wear matching white caftans with elaborate green embroidery around the necklines. Green caps complete the ensemble in a stylish nod to the national colours.

The governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, hosted a send-forth dinner on Tuesday night, which was shortly followed by the Eagles' departure from Nigeria.

The team had just returned from a one-game training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), where they defeated a local club named Al Gharaib 12-0 before falling to Guinea 2-0 in the next match.

Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, and Ivory Coast are in Group A with the Eagles.

On January 14, Nigeria's first matchup is against Equatorial Guinea. Four days later, they play Ivory Coast, and the final group stage matchup is between Guinea and Bissau.
