The Greater Accra Men's Basketball Team took first place in the inaugural National Basketball Championship, which was played at the University of Cape Coast's Sports Hall.
They won the competition by defeating the Ghana Armed Forces Basketball Team in the championship game by an 80-49 score. For third and fourth place, respectively, GHATUSA Men defeated Fire Service Men by a score of 61-59.
In the women's division, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) women won by a score of 71-63 against Accra Basketball Women, while Police Women defeated Armed Forces Women by a score of 46-45 to take third and fourth place.
A total of 36 teams from all ten traditional areas participated in the ten-day competition, which ran from December 12 through December 22, 2022, with the aim of choosing players to develop a strong national basketball squad for both men and women for subsequent competitions.
Central, Accra, Brong Ahafo, Volta, Eastern, Western, Ashanti, Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Police Team, Armed Forces, GHATUSA, and Fire Service were among the basketball teams that took part.
