Boxing: Ghana Female Boxers Prepare For IBA Championship In India

Female boxers from Ghana now have the chance to compete at the IBA Women's World Championship, which will take place in New Delhi, India, from March 14 to 26, 2023.
The IBA Women's World Championship has a lucrative prize pool up for grabs, with the winner taking home $200000, second place getting $100000, and third place getting $50000.
Some ladies have been chosen to train in the gym in Accra, according to Mr. Dauda Fuseni Fuseini, Vice President of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF).
He stated that in order to prepare for the World Championship, the GBF is now intensifying its training.

He gave the team's names as Janet Acquah Light Flyweight, Ramatu Quaye of the Ghana Police Service Flyweight, Sarah Apew - Featherweight, and Anatu Mohammed of the Ghana Army Lightweight. Janet Adjeley Adjei, a lightweight, will square off against Anatu Mohammed for the right to represent her weight class. Farouza Osman, a light welterweight, Nasara Fuseni, a light middleweight, and Trudy Manteaw, a middleweight, will also compete.


The female boxers practice with Abdul Rashid Williams (also known as Believer), the head coach, and Ernest Ofori, the assistant coach.
The girls' coaches think they have what it takes for them to medal.
The girls have been practicing for a very long time, according to Dauda Fuseni, and it is regrettable that they are not given opportunities to gain experience.

"We have very good female boxers who are strong and skilful, they need moral and financial support to reach the top of their chosen field and they must be encouraged " he expressed.

Ben Quartey, the president of the Ghana Boxing Federation, has meanwhile pleaded with the government and business associations to support the country's amateur boxers because their sport has consistently brought home medals from important international sporting competitions.
