GHANA LOSES TO TANZANIA AS BAALERI SHINES IN BOWLING FIGURES AT ICC T20 WORLD CUP QUALIFIER

The senior national team of Ghana has fewer chances of moving on to the next round of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup after losing their third game this afternoon at the Gahanga Oval.

After abruptly losing by 7 wickets to Mozambique on Friday morning following a victory in their opening match against Eswatini, Ghana suddenly fell by 4 wickets to Tanzania.

After Tanzania won the toss and chose to field, Ghana scored in the first inning.

Tanzania took their first wicket on the 1.2, and it was a fight from the start of the innings (James Vifah).

With Ghana's score at 45/5 in 10 overs, Tanzania managed to take 4 more wickets with excellent restraint (Alexander Osei, Samson Awiah, Rexford Bakum, & Obed Harvey).

Before Daniel Anefie was sacrificed in the 18.4 over, a run out that many hoped had not occurred, Daniel Anefie and Richmond Baaleri, who together scored 68 runs and advanced the scores, offered Ghana some hope.

At 121/7, Ghana's innings was over.
In cricket, it was a difficult but not impossible mission for Ghana to contain Tanzania.



But the greens didn't waver, and in 3 overs, 4 overs, and 5 overs, they were at 29/0, 57/0, and 63/0.

Tanzania won by four wickets after scoring 122/6 in 14.3 overs.

Richmond Baaleri, a young player, put forth a performance that cannot be discounted, scoring 4.0-1-12-4.

Richmond produced 18 dot balls from his 24 deliveries, enough for an economy rate of 3.0 and a first wicket over.
In a post-game interview, captain Obed Harvey, who recovered from injury to participate in today's game, was precise.

"It didn't turn out the way we wanted. We can only get ready for what lies ahead, he said, adding that it was "another unpleasant day at the workplace."

Ghana is scheduled to resume the competition tomorrow, December 5, 2022, at the IPRC Oval at 1:45pm against Sierra Leone, with 4 more games remaining (11:45am GH Time)
