Ghana, Nigeria humbles Kenya and Cameroon in first round of MEA Rugby League Championship

The 2022 MEA Rugby League Championship officially commenced yesterday, 28th September with the Green Hawks of Nigeria and Leopards of Ghana winning their matches.

The first match which was between Ghana and Kenya kicked off at 1pm. Ghana made the first try of the tournament and completed their conversion. Kenya equalized, making the scores 6 - 6.
After 80 minutes of play, Ghana defeated Kenya by 26 - 6.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon went against the Green Hawks of Nigeria in the second match.
Cameroon took the lead with a penalty kick and defended the point till Nigeria equalized making it 2 - 4 against Cameroon.
Despite being short of a player and with no substitutes, Cameroon put out a good fight but Nigeria was too strong for them as they won with a 36 - 2 score.

On 1st October 2022, Nigeria will go against Ghana in the Finals while Cameroon battle it out with Kenya for the 3rd position.

Will Nigeria defend their throne or be dethroned by the host, Ghana?
