Round 1 of the Women's World Cup is in the books, with big wins for England, Australia, New Zealand and PNG.
Brazil's first appearance makes history, while PNG's first World Cup victory boosts their semi-final chances.
1. Brazil makes their debut
Brazil made its debut in the Women's Rugby League World Cup 21 on November 1, 2022. The debutants faced the hosts, England. England defeated Brazil 72 to 4. The hosts got off to a fast start with a big win over Brazil, but the debutants have a lot to be proud of after a strong first game.
2. Papua New Guinea defeats Canada
On November 1st, Papau New Guinea defeated the Canada 34-12. Both teams showed promise, but PNG proved too strong for the Ravens.
3. No try for France
On November 2nd, France faced three-time champion New Zealand. The New Zealand Kiwi Ferns have one of the most impressive Rugby League World Cup records! New Zealand dominated the game, outplaying France and defeating them 46 - 0.
4. Australia gets highest score
The Jillaroos began their title defense against Cook Islands. Australia performed admirably against the Cook Islands. They won 74-0, which is the highest score in the women's tournament so far.
