Yakubu Suleman wins Player of the Match after Nungua Tigers' win against Bulls RLFC

Following Nungua Tigers' 20–8 victory over Bulls RLFC in the Ghana 13s Championship yesterday, winger Yakubu Suleman was chosen as the RESPECT Man of the Match.

Yakubu, the Accra Majestics Rugby League Club's captain, is presently on loan at Nungua Tigers for the 2023 season.

During the game against Bulls, Yakubu scored two tries for Tigers and made some amazing tackles. Gideon Klugey and Kofi Montchon also scored a try each.

As the second club in the history of Ghana Rugby League to defeat Bulls in the Ghana 13s Championship, Tigers also made history yesterday by recording their first-ever major victory. A very momentous day for Tigers. From kickoff to final whistle, the players put on a strong performance and dominated the match.

A truly outstanding performance.

In the game against Bulls, Accra Majestics player and assistant team manager Abdallah Bilal made his competitive debut.
Yakubu's first try was made possible by an assist from Bilal, who is presently on loan to Tigers. He did a fantastic job playing for a rookie.

Oliver Puman(Captain, Nungua Tigers) shared his thoughts on the match

"It was an interesting game. We came in with a plan and it worked"

Speaking on Yakubu & Bilal, he added,

"There was no doubt about Yakubu; even during training his attitude and dedication was great. Before the match started, he told me he will show me something and he did on the field"

Before the game started I told Bilal that it’s not different from training and that he should remember to have fun. At half time, he was a little down and I told him not to worry but stay focused. In the end, we all saw the tackles and the two runs he made."

Yakubu also shared his thoughts
"The match was a tough yet wonderful one. I'm glad I was able to put out my best.

Being selected as the player of the match came as a surprise though I was excited about it.
I'm grateful for all the support and motivation from my friends especially from my TM, Rachel Ankomah. I tried my the best on the field to make Tigers, my TM and my Team Majestics proud of me.And I'm glad I did "

Bilal had this to say
"Although I was on loan from Accra Majestics RLC to Nungua Tigers RLC, I was happy I played against BULLS and made an assist which got my supporters including my family very happy and cheerful. We thank God for a successful game and a win for us...I'm grateful to Oliver Puman for the encouragement. My third and last gratitude goes to my One and only Madam (Rachel Ankomah)who got me motivated both off the field and during the game. "

Debutant Bears also competed against Panthers, but they were unable to create an impression as they fell to the latter by a score of 40 to 0.
