Nii Armah Ashitey sets NDC National Chairmanship race in motion; files nomination

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Chairman Aspirant, Nii Armah Ashitey, on Tuesday filed his nominations to contest the party’s chairmanship position in the upcoming national executive elections.

On Tuesday, 8th November 2022  Nii Armah Ashietey filed his nomination to contest in the upcoming NDC National Chairmanship position amidst pop and pageantry.

As a former member of parliament (MP) for the constituency, Nii Armah Ashietey's numerous lovers and followers came out in their numbers along the streets to cheer his convoy as they drove from his office on Lokko street, Osu to the NDC headquarters to file his nomination.

Hundreds of NDC members from different parts of the country dressed in Nii Armah Ashietey branded t-shirts were present at the filling ground.

Addressing the media after the filling, the former Member of Parliament for the Korle Klottey Constituency expressed excitement saying “I am happy that at long last the dream is coming true…the dream to lead this great party of ours that we love so much is coming true and come the day of the election, Nii Armah Ashitey will emerge victorious and become the leader of this party.”



He promised to provide leadership for the party to be able to mobilise support for election 2024 adding “that’s the dream…the dream is that 2024 we will win elections and win it hands down and so I am going to provide the branches, constituencies and regionals the necessary resources required to work towards 2024 election.”



“We have a situation where when you move one step ahead and you lose elections, you’re forgotten. I am going to reconnect and revisit all those people who have problems with the party so that together we can go into 2024 election more united than ever before,” he said.

On October 13, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah officially declared his intention to contest the chairmanship position of the NDC.

Mr. Nketiah will be in the race with the current chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Nii Armah Ashitey.

The NDC will hold its national congress on December 17, 2022, to elect national executives.
