How To Create An Online Course That Makes You Money From Day One
In this guide, you'll learn how to create an online course that makes money from day one. You'll need some experience in marketing, copywriting and sales, but if you don't have any of these skills yet then there are plenty of ways to learn them. The key is to start with something small and build up your knowledge as you go along - so make sure you complete the first section on finding a profitable topic before trying anything else!
Find A Profitable Topic
Finding a profitable topic is all about finding something that you are passionate about, has demand, and can be taught.
To find a profitable topic, consider these questions:
What do you love to talk about? What excites you? If there's no passion, why would anyone else be interested in the course?
Is this subject in demand? If people are looking for answers on Google, then it's likely they're willing to pay for them on Udemy too!
Can you teach it well enough to captivate an audience who will pay for your course and come back for more? A high quality product is key here.
Are there other people teaching this same subject already on Udemy or another platform (and if so how many)? This will help determine how competitive your market is and how much money can actually be made from it - good news though! Competition creates demand because students want variety when choosing their instructor/course provider so it's important not just because we like competition but because our audiences do too :)
Lastly, is there an audience already built up around this niche topic as well as an established way of teaching about it (such as blogging)? These two things go hand-in-hand since having an existing following means more potential customers which makes sense since they know who you are! So if any one of these questions sounds like something that might interest me personally then I'm likely going
Use The Right Tools
With so many online courses out there, it's important that you use the right tools. Tools like Teachable and Wishpond can help you create a course that makes it easy for people to sign up and pay. Other tools, like Clickfunnels, will make your life easier when it comes time to actually build your course.
You'll also want a tool in place to track all of this information so you can see what's working and what isn't. For example: if someone signs up for one of your courses through Wishpond but then doesn't take any action afterward, did they really sign up or was it just an accident? You should know! And finally, there are payment processor options out there that allow you to accept payments from anywhere in the world without having to deal with credit cards or bank transfers yourself (this is especially helpful if English isn't even your language).
Create Your Course Content
You've got your course outline and now it's time to pull the content for each lesson. The first step is to write a content outline. This will help you keep track of everything that goes into the course, as well as make sure that each lesson covers all of the topics included in your outline. Think about what topics you want covered, then write them down (in order) and fill in any information you already have on hand:
Once you've got an overview of the content, it's time to start creating specific lessons based on that outline. You'll want each lesson to be concise, clear, relevant and organized so people can easily follow along without getting lost or overwhelmed by too much information at once. If a topic needs further explanation than what fits within one section (or even two sections), consider breaking it down into multiple sections where appropriate.
Design Your Funnels
The next step is to create the funnel. A sales funnel is a process designed to get an audience from point A to point B, with the ultimate goal of making money. It’s similar to a real-life funnel: you start with a wide opening and narrow it down until you have one specific target group left at the end of your sales process.
When creating your first online course, think about other courses that you’ve taken in the past, especially those that were successful for you. What did they do right? What did they do wrong? How can we improve upon these ideas as we build our own offering?
One feature that all good sales funnels have in common is value-driven content at each stage of conversion. The more value you provide each time someone comes into contact with your funnel—whether through email messages or landing pages—the higher their chance of converting will be!
Set Up Your Sales Page
The sales page is the most important part of your course, and it’s where you can make or break your business.
To have a successful launch, keep these seven tips in mind:
Make it easy to find out how much the course costs. Your primary goal should be to get people to buy, so don't make them hunt around for pricing information. To help with this, include a “buy now” button in some obvious place on the page—you want it at least as visible as any other call-to-action (CTA) buttons on there—and link directly to your checkout form. This way if they decide not to buy right away after reading through what you offer and how much it costs, they still have an option available that will take them straight back into the sales funnel without making them leave again first.
If you're using Shopify's built-in shopping cart software like I do here at DIY Video Guy Academy which means there are no additional fees beyond what Shopify charges per sale ($0).
Set Up The Payment Processor
Now that you've been through the process of creating your course, it's time to set up your payment processor. Payment processors are incredibly important when it comes to running an online business. They allow people who buy from you to pay for their order securely and ensure that they can't use someone else’s credit card.
There are many different payment processors out there, but we recommend starting with Stripe because they're easy to use and have a great reputation among online businesses. Plus, if you ever want or need help setting up your account—or changing anything about it—Stripe has excellent customer service reps who will happily walk you through whatever steps are needed to get things done!
The best part is that signing up for Stripe is completely free! It's also quite easy: All you have to do is fill out some basic details about yourself (like name and email address) before following the prompts on-screen until everything is set up correctly.
Launch Your Course
Now that you have your course ready to go, it's time to launch. You'll want to make sure you are prepared for this stage before you begin:
Have a payment processor and sales page set up (we recommend Teachable)
Your course content should be finalized and ready for distribution upon launch
Have a way of promoting your course (e-mail list, social media accounts etc.)
You can make money online by offering a course.
Creating an online course can be a great way to make money in the 21st century. There are lots of ways that you can make money with your online course, including:
Selling it to other students. In this model, you charge a fee for access to the course and then keep all of that revenue for yourself.
Selling access to your course at a lower price point than its market value (so you still make some profit). This is also known as ‘self-publishing’ an ebook or other product - basically, it’s your own personal drop shipping business!
Using affiliate marketing strategies to promote related products from third party sellers on sites like Amazon, Shopify and others.
Conclusion
If you want to make money online, then there’s no better way than by creating an online course. You can use it as your own business model and make passive income from it.
