Meet Ruka Yaro De- Liman, the lady making a difference in Poultry Farming
For a long time, the poultry industry has been a male-dominated field. But one woman is making sure that the next generation of farmers will be more diverse.
Meet Ruka Yaro De-Liman the lady with a degree who has defied all odds to venture into poultry Farming
Ruka Yaro De-Liman is the founder and CEO of Jamilullah Farm Enterprise, an agribusiness entrepreneur with relevant skills in enterprise and rural development. She holds a first degree in Integrated Development Studies (IDS) from the University for Development Studies.
Ruka is based in Tamale, the regional capital of the Northern Region in Ghana
She has worked with revered organizations such as ACDI/VOCA – Zambia, CAMFED Ghana, Northern Girl Initiative (NGI) Ghana and Bongo Agribusiness Incubation Hub (BAIH). At the community level, Ruka has organized and coordinated fund raising events, mentored over 10,000 youth in career guidance, business development and leadership. Ruka has also supported over 200 rural women with business development services in the Kumbungu and Sagnarigu districts in Northern Ghana.
She is a celebrated young leader and participated in the maiden edition of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Fellowship in 2014. She is the former National Chairperson for the Camfed Alumni Association of Ghana and the Executive Director for Northern Girl Initiative (NGI).
Her advice for other women who want to start their own businesses? Just do it! You don't have to wait until you're older or have more money—just take action today!
