Meet Mr. Ayendago Charles Mbawineh who started one of the most successful Journalism School in Tamale with 9 Students in 2015.
Mr. Charles is a Professional Teacher, Textile Technician, Journalist, Publishing Professional and Procurement Consultant.
He started the school to encourage young people to get involved in the news industry, but he also wanted to help them find jobs outside of journalism if they didn't want to pursue it as a career.
He believes that all businesses need good communication skills, and so he created a curriculum that teaches young people how to write well and speak clearly.
He knew that it was going to be difficult; he didn't have any money and didn't know anyone who could help him get started in the field.
But he was determined to make it work for him.
Olive School of journalism is affiliated to the Institute of Business Management and Journalism (IBM&J) in Kumasi which is accredited by the National Accreditation Board NAB, The School also offer HND and Diploma Courses
The school has been very successful since its launch in 2015, with more than 500 graduates who have gone on to take jobs at various media outlets throughout Ghana.
Although many graduates have been hired by local newspapers and television stations, others have also won international and local awards with their stories and place of work.
He also strives to be inclusive by providing training and resources for people who might not otherwise have access to this kind of education: "I want people from all walks of life to know what it means to be a journalist," he says. "We need more diversity in our media coverage."
Mr Charles has many qualifications among which are, MBA (Procurement of Consulting Services) from IPMP-Accra, BA (Publishing Studies) KNUST-Kumasi, HND (Communication Studies) from ICM-UK, Diploma (Communication Studies) from AUCC-Accra and many more.
