For the first time ever, a men's World Cup match was officiated by an all-female crew.
Stéphanie Frappart, Neuza Back and Karen Diaz made history last Thursday when they became the first all-female refereeing team to oversee a World Cup match. Many fans took to Twitter after Germany’s game with Costa Rica ended—with several congratulating FIFA for advancing women's rights in football by promoting equality at all levels of play.
