Wedam Kadoa Rhoda Awarded MTN hero of Change, 2022

Wedam Kadoa Rhoda was among ten other persons awarded the MTN Hero of Change, 2022 on Thursday November 24, 2022, The award comprised a citation, and an amount of Ghc 20,000 with some goodies from MTN
The event was organized to honor heroes who stood up and fought for their community during the covid-19.Rhoda during this time brought together kayayo girls and provided them with free skills training that was paying them while still under the training.

About Rhoda and her inspirational Story

Wedam Kadoa Rhoda is the founder and CEO of the Song-Ba Empowerment Centre with over 5 years of experience in social enterprising.

She focuses on supporting women/girls without formal education who travel to urban cities as head porters (Kayayo) to identify decent sources of livelihood through her organization where they are trained in various skills that pay them while still training.
Her Organization also provides rural girls with sustainable menstrual hygiene training and reusable sanitary pads that help them manage their menses while in school.



Through her projects, she has empowered 10 girls who are currently masters on their own in weaving of smocks and sewing, 30 girls currently in training and has provided over 10,000 girls with the 'Days for Girls' reusable sanitary pads she produces at her Centre.

Rhoda is a past student of St. Francis Girls SHS in Jirapa, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrated Community Development from the University for Development Studies and currently pursuing Generic MBA at the Accra Business School.
Rhoda has worked with both local and international NGOs as a project officer. She is committed to serving women and girls in Ghana.

In 2018, She emerged as the overall best female SDGs achiever at the Africa at the Africa Youth Summit which was held in Accra, Ghana.

Rhoda has plans to create at least one empowerment centre in each of the 16 regions of Ghana to enable her to reach out to more women and girls with her projects.

It is her dream to see every woman and girl in Ghana ignite their desired change from within.
She is a 2021 Mandela Washington Fellow.
