Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame has contested an application by Richard Jakpa, the third defendant in an ambulance case, seeking dismissal of charges.
Jakpa's legal team requested the charges be dropped or proceedings halted, claiming Dame assured him of his innocence and that his inclusion in the prosecution was to conceal the true motive behind the trial.
Jakpa alleged the action was driven by pressure from President Akufo-Addo and Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to target Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
The AG dismissed Jakpa's claims as baseless, calling the application a deceptive attempt to avoid prosecution for causing financial loss through misrepresented van purchases.
