Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has raised concerns about the Communications Ministry awarding a 5G network contract to Next Gen Infraco Ltd., a company formed just days before receiving the contract.
Awuni highlighted that the deal, estimated to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars, was awarded through sole sourcing, bypassing competitive bidding.
He questioned the company's capacity to handle the project, given its lack of track record, and called for greater transparency and fairness in the procurement process.
The government aims to launch 5G services across Ghana within six months, in partnership with seven industry leaders.
