A group of Deputy Director-ranked teachers in the Ghana Education Service (GES) has accused the system of promoting individuals based on political connections, not merit.
Led by Mr. Newell Anokye Abrefa, the teachers claim they’ve been denied promotions for years despite being qualified.
They argue that without political backing, teachers are stuck in low-ranking positions, which affects their salaries, allowances, and pensions.
The coalition called on Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to address their concerns, warning that unresolved issues could impact his support from the teaching community.
The teachers shared their grievances during a press conference in Kumasi.
