SSNIT Hotels: Rock City’s withdrawal doesn’t invalidate our strike – GMA

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has reiterated that the withdrawal of Rock City Hotel from the bid to acquire 60 percent of four SSNIT-owned hotels does not affect their planned strike.

The GMA had scheduled a withdrawal of Outpatient Department services from July 15 to 17, and emergency services from July 18 to 21, 2024, as a protest against SSNIT's decision to sell shares.

GMA General Secretary Dr. Richard Selormey clarified that the strike addresses the broader issue of the sale, emphasizing that the demand comes from organized labor, not directed at Rock City.

Other labor unions under the TUC also plan strikes if the deal proceeds.
