Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has criticized the Supreme Court's political affiliations, arguing that justices are appointed based on their ties to either the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking on TV3, Kpebu described the court as a “political organization” shaped by party influences.
His comments come amid a dispute over the Supreme Court's refusal of Speaker Alban Bagbin’s application to overturn its decision on four disputed parliamentary seats.
Bagbin’s lawyer argued that the Speaker’s rulings, as non-judicial actions, should be outside the court’s jurisdiction.
However, the Chief Justice highlighted the importance of preventing “irreparable harm” to constituencies left without representation, expediting proceedings to ensure a swift resolution.
