Dr. Tony Aidoo, Ghana’s former Ambassador to the Netherlands, has voiced concerns over the Supreme Court’s recent rulings, which he perceives as favoring the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking on JoyNews' Newsfile, Dr. Aidoo suggested the court is overstepping its mandate, especially in politically sensitive cases.
He cited the court’s handling of the case brought by Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, challenging the Speaker’s decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant, and argued the case lacked grounds for legal interpretation.
Dr. Aidoo warned that such actions could erode public trust in the judiciary's impartiality and harm Ghana’s democratic process.
