Parties in the trial of three alleged accomplices of Aisha Huang, the notorious illegal mining (galamsey) kingpin, are expected to file their closing arguments by December 12, 2024.

On that date, the court, presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, will announce a judgment date.

The accused, Li Wei Guo, Shi Mei Zhi, and Nana Kwame Opoku (alias Obolo), face multiple charges under Ghana's Criminal Offences Act and the amended Minerals and Mining Act, 2019 (Act 995).

Investigations revealed that Li and Shi, identified as lovers, engaged in illegal mining activities with Opoku’s assistance.

The trial, which began on June 6, 2023, has exposed irregularities in the accused's residence and work permits issued by the Ghana Immigration Service.

The State concluded its cross-examination of Opoku last week, marking a critical phase in the proceedings.
