Massive denouncement for ‘NO vote’ by Ghanaians in the Diaspora, Deputy EC must resign

2019 will go down in history as a year that Ghanaians felt marginalised by a handful of political bigots, whose prime concerns were one that sort of enriched themselves, their family and friends.

It’s also a year that saw many notable Africans in the Diaspora shifting their focus on Ghana and the continent at large.

Sadly, these two matrixes only highlighted the corrupt governance by the current administration whose main agenda had never been in the good interest of the people of Ghana, rather to try to rewrite our Ghanaian history and enrich themselves with wealth.

In a few days the Akufo Addo’s NPP led administration, want Ghanaians to go to the polls on 17th December 2019 in a referendum that could amend Article 55 (3) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution to allow politicizing of local level elections, which would further polarize Ghanaian civil society to catalyst a civil war scenario should a Yes vote be allowed.

The alarming nature of events concerning this referendum is the posture that Ghana’s Electoral Commission officials have taken to push this Yes vote agenda, when as Electoral Commission they are supposed to remain neutral on the subject and act as credible referees to the referendum.

The NPP Government, must act swiftly to remove all persons that exhibit partisan views/tendencies if it truly upholds the rule of law and more importantly if the they truly hold the general interest of the people of Ghana at heart.

Ghanaians in the Diaspora, who have been eyeing happenings in Ghana, have all expressed disappointment in the Electoral Commission’s approach and are using social media platforms to sound the alarm that Nana Akufo Addo’s government is slowly but surely destroying the social fabric of the Ghanaian civil society.
As such, if the referee (Deputy Electoral Commissioner) is already saying a YES vote should be the order of the day, then clearly Ghanaians can already see the true colours of a rigged system.

Ghanaians in the Diaspora, representing all sides of the political divide, but hold dearly their patriotic banners which reads Ghana first, are calling on all Ghanaians to vote NO to this referendum, and galvanized efforts to bridge the divide this NPP government is trying to bring. We all see efforts the Otumfuo is trying to make but it won’t be effective if we all don't stand united to fight off any divisive moves. We are one people, so let's not allow politics to shake our foundations of unity.

God bless our homeland Ghana. God help us all.

Long live Ghana.
