Afenyo-Markin cites spiritual consequences in refusing Minority Position

Alexander Afenyo-Markin Alexander Afenyo-Markin

Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has voiced strong spiritual objections to accepting a minority position in Parliament, as tensions with the Speaker and opposition mount.

Speaking outside the Supreme Court on Monday, Afenyo-Markin emphasized that sitting in the minority seats so close to the December elections would carry a “bad omen” for the NPP, saying, “Spiritually, it’s not even good.”

He argued that the Speaker’s recent actions favoring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) reflect a hidden agenda to shift parliamentary power.

Afenyo-Markin called on the Speaker to promote unity and direct the NDC members to return to their rightful side, stating that the NPP respects the court but sees a “common sense” solution within Parliament.
