Togbe Afede XIV, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, has raised alarms over the growing tensions between the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, and the judiciary, describing recent judicial decisions as "illogical" and uninspiring.
Speaking at the 9th Congregation of Ensign Global College, Togbe Afede expressed disappointment in the judiciary's recent rulings, particularly a Supreme Court decision in favor of Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s suit challenging Bagbin’s declaration of vacant parliamentary seats.
The traditional leader stressed the importance of a fair, impartial judiciary and urged that all institutions, especially the judiciary, remain free from partisan influence to protect the rights and freedoms of Ghanaians.
