Retired Supreme Court Judge, Justice William Atuguba, has cautioned Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin about serious consequences if he does not adhere to the Supreme Court's recent ruling.

On Tuesday, the Court reversed Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant with a 5-2 majority decision, restoring the seats to their original holders.

Justice Atuguba, in an interview with JoyNews, warned that defying the Court’s orders could result in up to 10 years of imprisonment or a 10-year ban from public office. He emphasized that compliance with the Court’s decision is mandatory.

Meanwhile, NDC MP Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor highlighted that for the Supreme Court ruling to take effect, Parliament, currently on an indefinite suspension, must reconvene and follow procedural steps, indicating that implementation is not immediate.
