Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has criticized Ghana's judiciary, accusing it of political bias following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Speaker Alban Bagbin's declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue, Cudjoe alleged that the judiciary has become a "playground for politicians," undermining public trust.
He urged Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo to address these concerns, noting widespread dissatisfaction with perceived judicial partiality.
The Supreme Court’s November 12 ruling, favoring Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, stated that parliamentary seats can only be vacated if MPs change political parties while retaining their positions.
However, two dissenting justices argued the Court lacked jurisdiction, highlighting divided opinions on the case.
