Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu claims that Alexander Afenyo-Markin, unable to mobilize the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmakers, has prolonged Parliament's vacant seat issue, preventing business since October 22.
While Kpebu deems this a constitutional crisis, Speaker Alban Bagbin refutes this, affirming Parliament’s operations remain lawful.
On October 30, the Supreme Court dismissed Bagbin’s attempt to overturn its stay on his declaration of four vacant seats, which Afenyo-Markin had legally challenged.
Bagbin contends the court misapplied its powers since his declaration is non-judicial, arguing the Supreme Court can stay only judicial rulings.
